Cooperation

To let sustainable packaging become a more common thing in this era, i think cooperation between designer and some big company are important too. The reason why it is important is because most of the big company have enough funds to make an interesting advertising to attract most of the consumer. They can introduce the product through tv ads to let consumer know and understand the meaning of sustainable packaging design. Other than that, big company can have cooperation with famous artist which can lead consumer to the road of sustainable world. Those artist can make sustainable packaging as the trend in this era, through this, the new generations will follow this trend in the following years too. This is how important the cooperation between each other, a cooperation can make a little changes and make this world become more beautiful and environmental friendly.

A good packaging design

The packaging of products play an important role in our daily life.A good packaging design not only have to be nice, be a sustainable materials design, but it has to be have other uses for the packaging itself too. For an example, the sponge company Twist began with making products derived from fully sustainable resources, and completed the cycle by wrapping their products in equally sustainable packaging. Twist company have design a special packaging design.Twist's sponge towel packaging can be turned into a colorful bird feeder after consumer open the packaging. Carton board are the materials which used by most of the designers all the time. Their dual function not only to protect and carry a product but act as a reusable object as well.So, this is the most common material that designer will consider to use it. Other than that, a good packaging design have to be a packaging product that will not hurt consumers. Designer have to be alert which kind of materials or design can be safely use by consumer and also have to think of different stratum of peoples who will have to possibility to use that packaging product.

Designer

Sustainability are now become a really an issue of critical importance for designer. Designer can be known as facilitators.  They have the strong appeal to affect consumers all around the world through their actions. Designer playing an important role in sustainable packaging design. Sustainability is not only redesign for our life, but also redefine the way how we think. Designer have to become more aware of power of imagination and and how they look at metadesign level. Designers can help us to change our cultural become a more fresh and new cultural. Designers can effect changes not only the changes of our clutural, but also our lifestyle and material or resource that we will use for our sustainability design.
With this sustainability design, we can have more healthy, happy, well-being, morality, meaningful and good quality of life in our future. If to give awards, we should really be grateful that have designer to help us and be a part to help us to improve our lifestyle and future world.

Underlying ugliness of products

Sustainable packaging are something like Art+Science. Its because most of the packaging have to use some science knowledge especially sustainable packaging and combine with the creation of designer. Every product have connect with environmental problem. The most important thing is most of the beautiful product have an underlying ugliness, consumers cant really find out that problem or maybe they dont even feel that this is a problem that happened in this century now. So, most of the designer now are trying to create something which is "total beauty" but not only beauty on the product's appearance! Most of the designer will think of how to make a particular product have more function but they forgot to think about the fabrication of the product which means how to make the product. Nowadays, designer are not only have to think of how they want the product be, but they have to think of how they want consumer and environment  or maybe this world be. So that our world will not have much of environmental problem.

Packaging

The purpose of packaging are to contain and preserve products and to inform peoples about exist of the certain products.But,it is important to ensure peoples health and safety to use that particular product.The most common material that most of the peoples used are cardboard cartons.This is a kind of foldable cardboard and it can be recycle.There are several shops are using this kind of material as their packaging,for example Mc Donalds (happy meal box,burger box, fries box).They just have to print the design onto the surface of the cardboard, after that, they have to fold the net to carton shape, and glue the carton together. It is easy to make it and convenient because it able to fold. Color choosing for the packaging are according to market competition and also must be some reasons behind the colors to represent something. So,most of designer will choose the colors accordingly but not randomly.
Why "sustainable packaging" are more important compare with only "packaging"?This is because sustainable packaging are to improving quality of human's life, our economic,environmental quality and of course social equity( think of our future generations). But packaging are just to contain our products. Sustainable packaging are bio-based basically and are renewable materials. Bio-based/biodegradable products are items that can decompose.Ex: food,garden waste,paper and paper box. Biodegradable material are better for our environment and product suppose to break down easily and back into components found in nature.

Sustainability can avoid poverty

Sustainability design is no longer about 3R's anymore,but it's 6R's. The 6R's are reuse,recycle,reduce,rethinking,repair and refusing. To make a sustianability design packaging,we have to think of these 6R's. Sustainability can avoid poverty in this era,because there are many jobless peoples around the world. The reason why sustainability can avoid poverty are, it create jobs. Most of the company which produce something which is sustainability have to hire workers to help them to produce those things,other than that, not only process product, but design the product, planning also need someone to help them. Sustainability can avoid poverty because sustainability is to produce some product that are not harm to this world, peoples around the world will not get sick or dont have to live in a pollute world, so,this is also can avoid poverty because health is wealth, and this also brings advantage for our next generation as they can continue to live in this world and do business or maybe create more jobs for peoples and make this world better. Other than that, it also strengthen our economy, because more business man can make investment in all those sustainability product company, for example: Melaleuca, it is a wellness company which produce sustainability products. Sustainability not only bring us a non-pollute world, but it also bring us some good advantage such as high chances of getting job and also chances of make investment in all those sustainability product's company, and make sustainability products more famous and people around the world use more sustainability product.

Supply Chain

Biodegradable and (PET) polyethylene terephthalate supply their own chain in industry. For (PET) polyethylene terephthalate, a very famous company,Coke company,they supply chain. They use the bottle that recycle back to make it into other things.Coke company have prepare their own recycle bin to make sure their consumer throw Coke's bottle into the recycle bin that prepared by their own company. After they recycle back their bottle,they use a part of bottle to make it into something new,for example,t-shirt.They can use the t-shirt make it into another new things,for example,chair and  etc.This is the chain that Coke's company supply.For this process,it can make things much more better, because consumer can buy different things but made from a similar product. For biodegradable, after they recycle back their things,they can make it into plastic bags,shopping bags.After they used it,it will become garbage again ,and through some process, it will return to plants again through photosynthesis. Most of the things have their own solution and way to recycle,reuse,reduce, but it take times to make it become a better things, and it also need some planning and cooperate with others company to do this process.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET)

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET) can be recycle many times and it can used in a variety of products.For examples, fiber,strapping or carpet.I would like to talk about COKE company which had take part and join some activities of recycle. In Australia,state government created a 10cent refund on recycling plastic bottles.For Coke company ,they oppose this campaign by use another way to recycle their products. They coperate with other company and  used their own products to create some other useful things rather than leave those plastic bottle there and devastate the environment,so why not make something that useful and can stay it in this world by make it useful for everyone,so that it will not be waste.Pet recycling also created a highest chances of job for the jobless peoples,because the process of recycling also need peoples to process it.

sustainable packaging design-biodegradable

Biodegradable is a material which can disappear and it is a natural material which is safe for human to use it. This biodegradable created from plant sugars ,starches or corn etc.By using this kind of material,all new living things can be made from the old things, and this is what we called it reuse, reduce, recycle.Every product that made from natural material will back to natural things after we used it, so, this is the good material that we can choose to made our products. Its main for the plastic bags, bread bags or maybe plastics film, after peoples used these, it will become garbage, and workers will incineration these garbage, make it become fertilizer. After these things become fertilizer, then it can return to plants through photosynthesis. This is how biodegradable works in our land.This is the cycle of biodegradable.

Report -Helvetica

After watching the video of Helvetica,I've learned a lot about Helvetica !Firstly,I've realised that we can use Helvetica wisely,no matter in any poster, billboard, or maybe books.Helvetica is a rational typeface.For my opinion,Helvetica is a typeface that easy to read it, clear to see it, and you can even use Helvetica typeface to draw some image out and it could be difference and unique.Helvetica is a typeface which have characteristics of readable and legible.I like what Lars Muller called Helvetica in the video,he calling Helvetica "Perfume of the city",it light up the city and make the city more beautiful since almost everyone are using Helvetica.I realised that Helvetica is everywhere,even restaurant or boutique also used Helvetica for their billboard.We can easily use Helvetica typeface in anything ,because its clear enough to let peoples recognize it and it is neat and tidy enough.
Other than that,for those visual campaign's poster or billboard,they also using Helvetica as well.Now,i am going to compare the visual campaign which happened in Malaysia and US.For Malaysia,there's a campaign which is UBAH and in US,there's a campaign which is Barack Obama's campaign.For these two campaign,their similarities are they are using the same typeface for their posters and billboards especially the important words.The reasons they are using Helvetica for their billboards and posters are because its readability and legibility.Even peoples are just pass by the posters on the road,they still can read it in few seconds.But the difference of their poster is Barack Obama's campaign are using more solid red,beige as to present hope.But for Malaysia's campaign,they are using many difference colors for their posters and billboard its because there are so many difference team in that election,and most of their colors are bright colors.For all these campaign, i can feel that it makes most of the citizen more unite and always helping each other.This is because they have the same target. They want to make their country better.
Last but not least,Helvetica is really a good choice if you're really dont know what typeface you want to use in your project or assignment.For me,i would like to explore more about Helvetica in coming assignments .
For the conclusion,what i want to say is its good to have these kind of campaign sometimes, because it really make everyone unite since almost everyone have the same thinking and goal.

Question that i choosed!

The question that i choosed is question no. 7,which is discuss the role of designer in sustainable packaging design.Discuss the urgent needs and how it contributes to improve the society. The reason i choosed this question is because i feel interesting in packaging design,and i want to know more about their culture,their process and what they do before they really come out with an interesting packaging design.So,for this week,i am going to write about their function,material that they usually used.Here's some sketches.

At first,the functions of packaging is to protect the product from damage or pollution of microogranism during delivering.Other than that,the function of packaging is let us to make our product look neat when the time we put up to shelf in shopping centre or maybe grocery shop,and it also can reduce the wasted space.Packaging design can attract more consumer to buy that particular product.Through packaging design,consumer can get the information of the product easily and can identify the product.It is easier to deliver to somewhere else if we did a packaging for that product.
Material that usually used for packaging design is for category of plastic,there's a plactic which named Polyethylene terephthalate(PET),this kind of plactic is popular for drinks containers.This kind of plastic are all 90% recyclable.Other than PET,polyvinyl chloride(PVC) is also popular for soft drinks containers that are not pressurised.Besides,polythene,a kind of softer plastic which used for plastic bags,squeezy bottle for detergents.
Other than plastics ,tin plate and aluminium are popular material for packaging design too.Tin plate and aluminium are usually used for cans,screw tops,trays,wrappings.The characteristic of this kind of material is they can withstands heat and processing internal pressure of gases.
So,now i understand more about their material using and some of their benefits,and why they want to have packaging design.

Questions choosing

First of all,i am still considering which questions to choose between this 2 questions.
1)Discuss the role of designer in sustainable packaging design.Discuss the urgent needs and how it contributes to improve the society.
2)Study the role of Bauhaus in the history of graphic design and explain its significance .Discuss the theory/concept or world views that they shared and how its influnce to current design scene.
So,here's my some sketching while thinking of which questions to choose.
For the 1st question,it's about the role of designer in sustainable packaging design,and discuss the urgent needs and how it contributes to improve the society.For my opinion,the role of designer in sustainable packaging design is designers have to be responsibility.They have to think of would it pollute our world,for example,using of plastic bag.This plastic bag cant recycle,so,designer have to rhink of something which can recycle,and have some eco sense while designing a new packacging.
Other that that,designer have to be understanding of consumers.They have to think of what consumers need,and how to attract them by designer's design.Besides,designers have to think as much as you can,for example,explore different kind of materials,and experiment.They have to make sure that those materials that they use will not bring harmful or dangerous for consumers.
How it contributes to improve the society?
Designers have to design some packaging that can be recycle,so that our world will not be pollute but can SAFE OUR WORLD from pollution.Designers also have to think of using some unique design which can make peoples feel easy and nice to use it,in other words,make our packaging convenient to let consumers feel free and easy to use it.Design something which dont bring negative or harmful .For example,something which contain chemical or toxic in it,this is a must not!So that everyone can live in a healthy way.

 1st question sketching

My second question is role of Bauhaus in the history of graphic design and explain its significance .Discuss the theory/concept or world views that they shared and how its influnce to current design scene.So,the significance /theory and concept of bauhaus with graphic design is,they combine together to form a new/unique things.The most popular combined with bauhaus and graphic design is Typography.From the combination of Bauhaus and typography,words can reflect the eliyism of old-fashioned German intellectual culture.Characteristic for the design were clear,unadoined type prints.The bauhaus combined theory and practical education,they are both important to form a new object,you have to learn the theory,and workshop are important too.Bauhaus designers ususally developed a clean and simple style by using abstract,angular and geometric forms.This is the reason why have both theory and practical class during that time,so that students can design and create a new things which is simple but useful and nice looking but not weird looking.Bauhaus influences to current design is typography.They usually combined bauhaus with graphic design(typography) to form a unique arrangement or words.
